Kojo Griffin
Kojo Griffin (b.1971) is an Atlanta based American artist who was born in Farmville, VA. He has been part of the Atlanta art scene for more than three decades and is known for his distinctive mixed-media paintings and sculptures. He often explores themes of identity, family, and the human condition. His intricate, layered compositions incorporate a variety of materials, including found objects, textiles, and repurposed materials, lending his pieces a unique and tactile quality. Throughout his career Griffin’s work has been widely exhibited in American museums and galleries in addition to his artistic practice, Griffin has also been actively involved in the Atlanta art community as a teacher and mentor. His contributions to the art world have been recognized with numerous awards and honors including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant. (HT)
