Hammonds House Museum is excited to announce a new partnership with African American’s for the Arts (AAFTA), an organization who has held monthly meetings at the museum for five years. The new relationship between the two organizations will support AAFTA’s goals and objectives as well as Hammonds House Museum’s mission and vision. This expanded relationship includes artist development opportunities for AAFTA members, co-branded programs and the presentation of a group exhibition at the museum. If you are an artist, consider joining AAFTA! The next meeting is Tuesday, August 6, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

Founded in 1998, African Americans for the Arts (AAFTA) has encouraged artistic collaboration between individual artists, groups and communities. The organization advocates for artists in the community through the presentation of forums, meetings, performances and exhibitions year round. AAFTA is a membership organization. The organization’s goals are as follows:
Promote the fine arts in the community via educational programs
Provide arts exposure activities for the general public in order to bring about a greater appreciation of the visual arts and performance.
